  1. Yeah. Pretty much. Both major parties in the USA try to broaden their tents as much as possible in order to get that extra 1 or 2 percentage points they need to beat the other major party. But it's definitely worse in the Democrat party, where they'll pander to all kinds of extremes. Another factor is that it's the true believers on or near the fringe who have the most energy for activism (and are least likely to have a serious day job).
