Pirating is definitely wrong. The solution, which no one wants, apparently, is to do without the product until and unless it's reasonably-priced, with no hidden fees (or ads) built into it.

They can double-dip and pull the old "you will own nothing and be happy" switcheroo, and probably get away with it. The miscalculation is that they may keep that 3 months' worth of the 6-month subscription you canceled, but they will NEVER get you back as a customer. This is these companies cutting off their noses to spite their faces.
