  1. Cruz is telling the truth about what kids were taught in Sunday School for 80 years, at least. The slow decay of organized religion in the West has led to a real disconnect between Boomers-and-older and Boomers-and-younger, with the fissure down the middle of the Boomers. We were ALL taught that same stuff. Half the people my age and even more people older just unquestioningly believe that Israel is the Promised Land of God's Chosen People, and its existence is a precondition for the 2nd Coming of Christ and Armageddon, which we're all taught to believe is a GOOD thing. It's ironic, because Israel is very much a secular society (43% of Jews in Israel are secular Jews). The older folks don't see the irony in supporting a nation that's not very religious at all, in the name of OUR religion, which is an offshoot of Judaism. It's just insane, the blind faith and allegiance to Israel that permeates our nation, particularly our geriatric political leadership.
