  1. The vast majority of people don't say racist things. You get an exaggerated sense of how racist people are, because the most rabid people (of any stripe) are always the most outspoken. You're wrong about American push-back against authoritarianism. 80% of us (at least) went along with the garbage COVID policies and mandates. It's only 4 years later when it is very clear that the "experts" got everything wrong that you're seeing the rejection of legacy media, federal agencies, and the "health" care industry. I say this as a contrary libertarian kind of guy, who IS knee-jerk against governmental power moves. It is my instinct to ask why and refuse to go along until I'm convinced it's the right way to go. MOST people just want to fit in and will go along with whatever seems to be what most people are doing. If this were not the case, then the first 2-week lock-downs would've been resisted to a far greater degree by far more people.

  2. Yes. As soon as the pendulum swings, there will be people who have the opposite agenda (usually the either not-bright ones or the power-seeking ones) will want to pile on and rub people's noses in it. I don't want to rub anyone's nose in anything. That's not how you house-train a dog. It's not how you bring people a little close to your world view. I just want tomorrow to be a little better for everybody than today was.

  3. Yes. In the absence of religious dogma to guide them, many people will turn to political dogma to guide them.
