  3.  @psykloneja  Make no mistake. The Soviets were up to no good. But the best way to deal with oppressive regimes from OUTside is to refuse to do business with them. But "elite" American "geniuses" came up with "The Domino Theory" and other such nonsense, to justify behaving as badly or WORSE than the Soviets. When/if socialist/communist/other regimes start expanding their territories through force, then force is called for. But the Cold-War mind set that's governed U.S. foreign and national-security policy since the end of World War II is possibly the worst form of imperialism of all - the sort of imperialism that pretends it's not imperialism. I remember as a kid, reading stories about the Japanese in WW II screaming "Die, American Imperialist Swine!" and it never made any sense, because America was obviously not imperialistic! Then I learned some more history of the Far East, from earliest colonial times to the present. Only then did I learn about Commodore Perry sailing (and steaming) into Tokyo Harbor, and compelling the Japanese to open their ports to foreign trade. We allied with Dutch, English and I think Portuguese, to make it stick. From Japan's point of view, American Imperialism was OBVIOUS. Hopefully, the Internet will break the iron grip that the government-corporate-media alliance has had on the minds of Americans since the turn of the 20th Century. Americans believe in the principles laid down in the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution, but our LEADERS haven't believed in those principles since the first robber baron hit Washington, D.C. with an open checkbook. The American people HATE war. American government LOVES war. The American people HATE regime-change foreign policy. The American government LOVES regime-change foreign policy.

  12.  @Kriegerdammerung  You are correct. But I would point out that the definition of what is "hard-earned" and "who is rich?" basically meant anyone who was making a decent living by mthe sweat of their brow. Read up on "the Kulaks" of the Ukraine. The commies basically swept up the dregs of city society and sent them to the rural areas to claim ALL the produce (and anything else they could lay hands on) that the Kulaks owned, because the Kulaks were successful farmers. The result? Millions dead of starvation, due to forced "collectivization," which means the people in the cities just head out to the countryside and steal everything. And God help a Kulak who wanted to keep enough of his own production to live and maybe have seed for the next season. Those Kulaks were executed for their "selfishness." It's like "hate speech." Once it's OK to silence "hate speech," the definition broadens until "hate speech" means anything the establishment doesn't want to hear. You have some made-up shit in your head about communism that a little bit of reading would cure. You believe what some commie grifter told you, and didn't do your research. Read up on Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Hell, read up about Poland, Rumania and Hungary. Communists are not nice people. They'll talk all day about "justice" but they twist meanings and distort what actually happened. Making a profit does NOT mean you exploited someone. It means you provided a product or service that was worth more to the people who bought it than what you charged, and what you charged was more than it cost you to produce. Without profit, you won't be back, tomorrow, with more product or service to offer. BASIC economics is too complicated for communists. Edit: Lusti gave this a fine treatment. I replied before reading or I'd've let well enough alone.
