@sbraypaynt : Casting Edward Furlong and then what's-his-name as the young, soy John Connor was a slap in the face of the original. I kind of liked the Sarah Connor Chronicles series. At least the mother was a bad-ass, raising her son to be a bad-ass. They injected a lot of teen angst and "Gee, I just want to go to school and be normal" bullshit, which the bad-ass son of the bad-ass mother would never go through. But that's writing for the screen for you.

BLADE was where I first noticed movie installments that dispensed with the world building done in the previous movies. These directors and producers don't care about such things. They're just trying to make a 2-hour-ish movie that's cool on its own. It's their business model, I guess. But the result of a sequel that isn't really a continuation of the original is a movie that isn't very satisfying to the viewer, unless the viewer says "The first movie sucked. THIS one's good, though." Or something. I dunno. Fuck off.
