  1. I think you sell Deckard short. Yes, he's kind of a damsel in distress, here, but he set this whole thing up, and remained a decent guy, in spite of the tremendous sacrifice he made. And he gave a young blade runner a hell of a good tussle. They're all playing on Deckard's chessboard, and he made himself a piece that could not move in order to win the larger game. But yes. He was more or less a plot device in the story.
