@allangibson8494 A man on a horse, however, can outdistance a man on foot, fairly easily. It's kind of a paradox.

The amount of firepower you can take with you is much greater than you could carry on foot, and much greater than it was 1,000 or even a hundred years ago or 10 years ago, ftm. With a motorcycle attack force, you can disperse your units very widely, making it very difficult to target all of them at once. They're mobile enough to rendezvous with a lot of combined firepower, at a much lower cost than doing the same thing with one big, expensive iron box on tracks, which is a specialty weapon whose significance has been magnified beyond all reason, because boys and toys.

@Nickrioblanco1 The USA has a sub-culture of centaurs not unlike British archers of yore were with the long bow. Millions of Americans grew up riding dirt bikes - motorized and pedal-powered - and can safely take a bike places you wouldn't believe. It's been a popular sport, here, for generations, and guys that grew up on them do ride like centaurs. The bike is a part of them, and they took their lumps growing up (and a few of them die every year).
