El Alamein, where Monty just waited for overwhelming numbers and arms, while Rommel's forces shrank due to lack of supply? Monty was always too slow until the one time he aimed for a bridge too far. Without sea and air power over the Mediterranean, Rommel was cooked from the beginning. The blockade did much more than any of the maneuverings on the ground, imho. They could've just kept the pressure on all of German shipping and air, and Africa could've been a mop-up operation after Europe was won. I suppose we learned a lot about the German Panthers, whose capabilities were greater than those of our own tanks. The biggest thing we learned was that the Germans couldn't replace their losses and that air superiority trumps tank superiority.
