I think you're seeing larger formations and more manned sorties flown by the Russians, and I speculate that it is due to the attrition of Ukrainian air defenses.
But yes. In general, you are not seeing massed armor attacks, because massing forces of any kind sufficient to run a traditional blitzkrieg/shock-and-awe campaign is just asking to be targeted and destroyed.
I think U.S. intel and arms support was only paused, and only briefly, but the obvious distortion is "There are still Ukrainian forces inside Kursk," since we all can look at the map and see how far they made it against token resistance, compared to how much territory they hold, now,
Anyway, the purpose is to destroy Ukraine's war-fighting capability and compel it to peace. This can't be measured in mere territory.
I mostly agree with Larry. I think the Russians have fought to minimize their losses, with the possible exceptions of Bakhmut and other strategic cities. This is something I didn't understand about Russian tactics and strategy. Why not bypass those cities and just lay siege?
I can see where the classical pincer movement is much more difficult against modern munitions and satellite surveillance. The advance needs to be orderly, and self-supporting, like a pawn chain in chess. Before they can really secure new ground, they have to push what must be limited (but growing) numbers of air defense and ECM systems forward.
Maybe that's why.
