  1. Federal office should be something you do at the end of a successful career, not the beginning of a long and lucrative career at the public trough. If you can't "get by" on your government pay, maybe you're not capable enough. It should be a SHORT stint, where you bring the sensibilities of real life (much needed) to government, not where you acquire the sensibilities of Washington, DC.
