But I think it became a rubber-stamp culture, which anybody with a brain knew was a huge danger from operating what is essentially a Star Chamber. Judges can't be trusted with these powers. Law enforcement can't be trusted with these powers. To me, the Patriot Act was America's surrender to Terror. We trampled our liberty to protect our liberty.

Women have quietly been pushing men's buttons since we lived in caves. It was always an equally powerful position as the men held, only different. But it came with trade-offs, such as playing that game tends to make you be treated like chattel by the very men they manipulate. They want all the benefits of their feminine powers but they don't want to pay the piper, as can be seen when a woman hits a man, the man hits her back, and she's outraged because he hit a woman. If they want equality, then that means registering for selective service and picking up garbage at the curb and drilling for oil and climbing telephone poles and working next to high-voltage transmission lines and saving babies from burning buildings... They want the "male privileges," but NONE of the responsibilities and dangers that go with it.

  35. Yes, it's dangerous to put so much power into the hands of the president. That's just one more reason the Constitution intended the federal government to be SMALL and LIMITED. The idea was that legislative, executive and judicial branches would have an uneasy balance of power, in perpetual tension, not that the permanent staffers of the government should hold dominion over legislative, executive and judicial branches.

  38. As the son of a white middle-class white-collar worker in a big family, I never qualified for any aid AND I never got any financial aid from parents to go to college, either. Didn't seem to hurt me. I worked my way through, with no help. I didn't go to any fancy high-dollar schools, but I paid my own way. No whining. No coulda-woulda-shoulda. Just determined. Just worked my ass off. I just don't get all the whining from people. I know if I were African-descended, I'd be PISSED-OFF at affirmative action and racial preferences of ANY KIND. Why do people keep pushing this kind of bigotry? I don't think it hurts whites so much as I think it makes people of color think they're not as good as anybody else, which is a lie. But apparently a LOT of racist assholes believe this lie and defend affirmative action.

You need ID to travel by plane, stay in a hotel, rent or purchase housing, buy alcohol, ... Voter ID is no obstacle to voting unless you're in this country illegally or want to vote more than once, and you know it. The right to keep and bear arms is guaranteed under the U.S. Constitution. You need photo ID to purchase a firearm.

  49. That was when I first started softening towards Trump. The way the left were reacting was over the top. Made me glad they didn't win, when I was pretty philosophical about the election, going in. Didn't like either party's candidate, so I voted Libertarian. I started actually liking Trump when he went toe-to-toe with the media, instead of putting his tail between his legs. And the media WERE and ARE insufferably arrogant, entitled, and partisan-left. I was suspicious of Trump, at first, getting his start out of his dad's wallet and undoubted connections. But he's been a breath of fresh air as president. And he knows what the fed-up working and middle-class people want to hear. And it's a message of success and prosperity to poorer people, too. He's not smothering them with "program-love." He's clearing the obstacles to their upward mobility. And that's all that 70-90% of us want.
