As Max Sands said, below, this generation grew up under much stricter law enforcement against drunk driving. They also were brought up being taught in school about living smaller. Many don't have cars. When I went out, back in caveman days, the only reason was the girls. We'd go out about 10 p.m. because that's when the girls would come out, already half-gone from drink (and the drug of choice). As soon as I had a girlfriend, the bar wasn't where I wanted to spend time.
