While the Office of the Inspector General is terrible about rooting out and sanctioning the worst of it, because as soon as it gets close, all you have to do is resign and it stops pursuing you because you're no longer under its preview. But it can be very helpful in weeding out the political hacks who try to stick around, which is something that the Trump administration failed to do in 2017, and if it had, the already-weaponized-against-Trump agencies would have made it seem like Trump was executing a Stalinist purge and draw parallels with the Night of the Long Knives, or Crystallnacht.

  2. Loss of faith in the FBI isn't something to be restored. Faith in the FBI was never justified in the first place. Trickery and maneuver was used to get this political entity created in the first place, less than a year after Congress voted explicitly against the creation of the agency.
