  1. Politicians shouldn't have to be experts at everything under the Sun. In fact, some of the most competent in science and engineering made poor presidents (Jimmy Carter). The free market does more to clean things up faster than anything bureaucrats could ever devise. It's far worse to be perceived by the public as a polluter or a cheat than to be slapped on the wrist by government regulators, whose FIRST concern is to protect the biggest players in any given industry. If laws/regs crush the little guy, nobody cares. Nobody hears. The PROBLEM is the government sticks its nose into everything, instead of staying in its lane. The problem isn't lack of expertise. The problem is passing laws and regulations on matters that are none of the federal government's concern.
