  1. FISC was a rubber stamp for the FBI from the get-go. Everybody knew the dangers. Most thought they were doing important work to fight terrorism. But I think it became a rubber-stamp culture, which anybody with a brain knew was a huge danger from operating what is essentially a Star Chamber. Judges can't be trusted with these powers. Law enforcement can't be trusted with these powers. To me, the Patriot Act was America's surrender to Terror. We trampled our liberty to protect our liberty.

  2. They thought they'd win. They thought they could continue hiding behind "national security." I think the abuse has been rampant almost since the very beginning, looking at the miniscule number of warrants that were NOT approved.

  3. FISA has been a threat to the Constitution from "Go." This kind of thing is exactly what civil libertarians warned against.
