  1. They didn't want Trump's 100 witnesses, because they knew Trump's team would've turned the proceedings into an indictment of the behavior of Democrats for at least the last 4 years. They've been inciting violence against Trump supporters for 4 years, de-humanizing anyone with an opinion different from the Democrat National Committee's.
