Mueller asked Barr for advice. The DOJ provided it. But Barr's NOT Mueller's boss, any more. If he wanted to pull out the stops, he was free to do so. He wanted to be able to SAY "They told me not to," but his performance, today, was unchanged by anything Barr said to him, unless he said "If you play dumb, maybe we won't prosecute you like your buddy Comey."
