  9. One of the two - or both - major parties will appropriate any platform planks that get traction and a following. Basically, the parties adapt/mutate to suck all the oxygen out of outsider campaigns. John Anderson was a famous left-wing independent back in the '70s/'80s. You won't find anything he pushed for that isn't part of the Democrat platform.

All the hippies from our generation want everybody else to pay for their self-indulgence. I'm not a part of the me-me-me-me crowd, but I'm ashamed of being in that Boomer age group.

  13.  @lindakeays2864  82-year-old man based his retirement on 4 apartments. He's broke. Can't do repairs. Can't sell, even at 2/3 market value. There are millions of stories like these from landlords and small-business owners across the country. Basically, if you tried to build your life in a prudent and moral way, the commies want to punish you for it.
