  1. I WANT to believe Trey Gowdy, but when the power was in his hands to hold people accountable, he was soft as a baby's bottom. He let the DOJ/FBI/CIA stall him at every front, and he didn't do much to hold them accountable. Some say he did a good job giving us the outlines of the problem. I see two possibilities: Gowdy's swamp. Congress is utterly incapable of oversight of federal agencies and programs, even assuming it wants to.

  2. This is about far more than people needing to be responsible with the enormous powers they're given. This is about giving human beings too much power. We need to wean ourselves off the notion that the human condition can be "solved" by force, from on high. The original American Revolution was us saying "We can manage our OWN affairs." Over 250 years, and accelerating the last 50 years, that has been twisted into "Please, government. Run our affairs for us."

  3. When his turn came to expose the bastards, he froze. I watched his hearings. He backed off every time he was circling the target. I'm still trying to figure out if he took things as far as he reasonably could, or if he's part of the problem, just pretending to be part of the solution.
