None of this is new or comes as a surprise to anyone who's questioned establishment narratives for 40 years. But you have to either witness true events that they lie about, or be way more of a fact geek than is probably healthy. Most people, living a balanced life, don't have time to drill any deeper than what's fed to them.

We don't even remember what "left" and "right" are, or they wouldn't call big-government "liberals" liberals.

Moving to Linux as soon as I retire. So much of my work depends on proprietary software in Windoze. Early (1980s) user of UNIX. Been through the Windoze NT phase at work, where they tell you all the things that are impossible, due to security, but knowing more stable UNIX was doing those things for years. What the NT gurus wanted you to believe was UNIX was weak and Windoze was best. I just laughed and used commercial servers for my needs.

@BrewsterMcBrewster I keep wondering why you old-time IT people haven't built better products to go head-to-head with Big Tech more effectively. I'm going to keep using Microsoft Office for work. I'm nearing retirement from the big institution, and I don't want to have to relearn everything I do for work product. But I'm definitely going to abandon it as soon as I retire. Meanwhile, for personal and future professional work, nothing but open source.

You don't need a condom if you're careful where you stick your you-know-what.

@jamesers99 I just know that my house is messier than my neighbor's house, where they sort of listen to CNN or MSNBC around dinner time. They have their shit together more than I do on day-to-day stuff, but I have a better idea of what's going on in the world and how things work.
