  1. I'm no Biblical scholar, but it's my understanding that the Aramaic original was "They," rather than "he," "she," or "it." You're making a pragmatic argument for tribal survival, to explain/justify later depictions as "He." It's a good argument, but it begs the question of the authority of God embodied in a male. It's more about keeping us destructive men in check, which probably IS good for society and the tribe. So, good on you, but your opposition will shred you. We're in a post-rejection-of-dogma era, and we need to be cognizant of that. Make a "Don't throw out the baby with the bathwater" argument by recognizing that rejecting dogma begs the question of what you REPLACE it with, which is something we're really struggling with, right now, with MANY making the mistake of transferring their "faith" to government-as-God ideologies, without even realizing that's what they're doing. But it's plain to see when liberals make arguments out of their feelings and beliefs that contradict our concrete knowledge of the reality around us.
