@Julian Keippel : I got argued out of leftism at about age 14, when I sounded much like any millennial (though I'm much older). It didn't happen in one sitting, but as I learned more history, I saw what brought progress and prosperity and what didn't. And it turned out that liberty and property rights are the cornucopia from which all else flows. The rest is just people who want to boss other people around.

I couldn't live in a way that Mormons approved, but if I wanted a lovely, smart, loyal, dependable wife, a Mormon would be a good choice. And there are real positives in the community thing they have going. Also some real negatives. I think when you see the piles of discarded signs and - this is fact - Starbuck's cups in the wake of any Antifa get-together, that tells you all you need to know about where those juveniles' heads are REALLY at.

I don't think it's meanness. And I don't think it's everybody. But you do seem to see a lot of people who've lived entitled all their lives blow their tops at imagined injustices. I think they earn status points in proportion to how upset they act. It's called "luxury radicalism," or "luxury activism," I think, and its purpose is for preening at cocktail parties at the country-club fundraiser. It's very stylish to go to "events" and "actions." Sport the right gear, tell a good story, express your unquestioning and undying compassion and love for everybody and everything... Because you're special. "That's obviously a knock-off, my deah. This is not the unique domain of the left. MANY famous statesman, most notably Benjamin Franklin, got famous and changed the world by neglecting their families. It's hard to be a renaissance man, enable the birth of a nation, and get your picture on money by spending a lot of time with your son. Jordan Peterson enjoins us to clean our rooms before changing the world. I think that's wise. What YOU'RE talking about, though, are ignorant, mean-spirited people who absolutely do NOT have their shit together, telling everybody else what to do.

Kuwabatake Sanjurō : The language has been so abused, even "classical liberal." I'm kind of an anti-globalist, myself. I don't want to see EU make a super-power. I want to see some of the bigger countries broken up, so no one country can get up to too much mischief that us regular folk die for and then have to clean up and rebuild, after. Buncha narcissists with too much power, who can cause millions to die, just because the one guy had a bout of irregularity the one day and missed the memo.

Kuwabatake Sanjurō : Last time I saw Lock or Hobbes brought up, it was me, attending a "White Privilege Training" at work. I was not well-received, but I wasn't going to let them divide us, just because some fool had a notion that this was legitimate training. Buncha rebels without a cause.

Shapiro's a little young and a little too tribal. He treads close to a Judaic form of Taqiyya, the latter of which I'm sure he excoriates in his critiques of radical Islam. There's a sense of right and wrong in Ben that I think can lead him to some authoritarian dead-ends. Antifa make similar mistakes. They can see where they can win the day, with sufficient numbers and enough attitude, and they get caught on video "winning." That's not winning. That's setting 2/3 of the country against you. You don't want to win by doing wrong, because the wrong will drag you down. So there you are. You've followed Ben's formula for success and you wrote a bunch of research papers full of Marxist-Leninist dogma, just to get a grade from a lunatic-left professor, and now you're running for office or you're in court for fraud, and those old term papers come up. "So, did you actually believe that stuff, back then or were you lying?" Do you lie and say you believed that nonsense, back then, but learned better, since? Or do you tell the truth and admit you were just shinin' a stupid professor? If you're honest, then they'll hit you with the old "So were you lying then or are you lying now?" or "If you lied then, for personal gain, why wouldn't you lie, now, for personal gain?" Nah. Best to sleep at night, even if it costs you the "win," today.
