  2. No, Joe. America's not farther right than ever. It's that the establishment has gone so far left and left the actual liberals behind. When the left became the establishment, it morphed into a new, reactionary, authoritarian right, that kept using the same anti-establishment rhetoric, which fooled a lot of people for a long time. I think the left broke the establishment by resorting to foul means to preserve its hegemony over it. It also became polluted by the same old, right-wing donor class that loves to keep the people down for its own benefit. Pro-war Democrats? Since when? Friend of corporate execs and enemy of the working man? Since when? Since they became the establishment.
