  1. I knew the type in college. I paid as I went, living poor as a church mouse, while others were partying like it was 1999. I borrowed $7,000 one semester. After many deferments, the debt climbed to $21,000 due to interest. I made double payments as soon as I (finally) finished, until it was all paid off, still living like a church mouse. I didn't complain. Nobody made me borrow that money or take so damn long to finish.
