  1. Cities should be super green. Humans are meant to spread trees. The way we build single-family dwellings in my country is pretty dumb. But it's cheaper to build with sticks on a cement pad than it is to do a little excavating and make a home that regulates its climate for almost no energy. It's just easier to pay power bills than it is to bring in the heavy equipment or a great big work crew.

  2.  @animatedarchitecture  Works beautifully in temperate latitudes. In the tropics, where the mean temperature is much higher, there isn't as much cooling effect, because the ground takes on the mean annual temperature. Hard to move the needle on a 100-degree day, when the ground temp is 70 (Fahrenheit). In the cooler temperate regions, a constant 50-degree heat sink helps in winter and summer. Back in the day, our culture had a tradition of helping each other build our homes and barns. It was a community and social event, where you'd have help building yours and you'd help others build theirs, turnabout. In a modern setting, it could still work very well, but we're cut off from each other.
