I'd word it a little differently. I think your athleticism is God-given. The work you put in to capitalize on it is all you. Then again, that attitude to work on yourself, some say, is also genetic.
I say much the same thing about my intellectual achievements. Yeah, I have enough natural talent to do something, but 90% of those achievements were because I worked my butt off, not because I'm just naturally super-smart. I'm probably a bit above average, the same as you're a bit above average, just by genetics, but the difference is what we did with it.
I've heard great musicians say similar things. One guy never pays attention to fans more than just to be polite. They will gush about how talented he is, but from HIS perspective, what makes him special is the thousands of hours he put in, perfecting his technique and always improving. He sees it as persistence and hard work, rather than talent. His natural talent, which I'm sure is well above average, he dismisses.
