  2. Knowing what we know about brain trauma, I'm not sure we shouldn't go back to bare knuckles. We went to the gloves because bare knuckles was too barbaric, they said, but I think they could keep a boxer in the ring longer if they protected his hands, even though he was suffering much worse harm from being hit by those big pillows that move your whole head. Bare knuckles, something gives, and your jaw is broken or your hand is broken or both. You have to be more careful about blows to the head, to avoid damaging your hands.
