  3. Producing images like that says he's got some nice equipment, already, even though he's using a smartphone to grab the images for the Internet. Nice telescope to keep Saturn in the view for that long.

  4. I thought the same general thing. It thinks it's being threatened. It's not grumpy. It's scared by the giant human. Saying it's "grumpy" is anthropomorphizing it, in much the same way most dog owners do their dogs.

  6. 10 feet is pretty good for an NFL player. Average 6-foot-tall, say. Then standing broad jump 1.6666666... times your body length for prime athletes. 2 times your length for the world record holder. What that cat did looked like 4 or 5 times its body length.

  8. Meanwhile, we keep planting trees in the desert. In parts of the USA, there are more trees than before Europeans arrived. That doesn't mean deforestation is a good thing. The question is how to fight it, without being authoritarian about it. Because authoritarians will clearcut the whole damn thing if they decide the "greater good," i.e., their own self-interest, demands it.
