  1. They told her the bills were marked. If she were innocent, that wouldn't've bothered her. Since she was guilty, she was sure she'd be found out, so she tried to get ahead of it and get some leniency, rather than lying when the lie was too easy to disprove.

  2. They had probable cause to search her purse where the marked bills lay hidden. She wasn't going to beat it in court. Still, it's never wise to volunteer anything to law enforcement. You never know how they might twist what you say or use what you say to tear your car apart or toss your house. And they don't put stuff back when they're done.
