  1. They tried the tactic because they expected the sentry to hesitate, to misinterpret what he saw. Also, he thinks he's miles behind the lines. No doubt the troopers chosen for the job had disarming smiles and showed all their teeth. I'd like to think I'd be by the book, but I'm not gonna sit here and say I'd be all hard-core, especially if they looked small and harmless.

  2.  @zulubeatz1  : He gets far more out of the research than we get from his videos. But to the extent he's nailing it, our intuition is guided quite a bit. As someone who grew up on Nazi generals' apologia, materials from the Soviet side are something I didn't get in or out of school, until TIK. And the wars in North Africa. I had no idea how badly both sides were floundering and flailing about.
