For me, the turning point came when Bismarck dreamt up socialized medicine: https://fee.org/articles/socialized-medicine/. This is when the hereditary elites tried to buy off the working class with Free Stuff, in an attempt to head off the commies, back in 1883. Of course, he saw things as a false dichotomy between the ruling aristocracy and the commie takeover, rather than LETTING laissez-faire capitalism take root and the workers become shareholders, rather than serfs.

@brucebartup6161 : Tomayto-tomawto. You're splitting an artificial hair. NAZI/Soviet are just brand names for the same concept. One uses a zipper and the other uses velcro.

I've got that Guderian book. He makes it all sound so prosaic and mundane, which I suppose is what most of it is.

@louiscypher4186 Yes. UK and USA became fascist in the name of fighting fascism. Many of those fascist features adopted "in crisis" remain in place to this day.

Jim lastname : I'd like to learn more about the effect of the partisans on the German war effort. It wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that the NKVD went after the partisans. The partisans probably were perceived (rightly) as a major counter-revolutionary threat to Marxist-Leninist utopia.

@vista1417 Romania wasn't enough and production from Romania actually dropped, if I recall. correctly. You have to understand that these are socialists trying to run an economy.

Adam was first. By this, he learned to blame Eve. Heh. Seriously, I think "Eve" probably found some herb with psychoactive properties.
