  1. SPORTS fans want to see meritocratic competition. They don't want to see a bunch of politics. The REAL issue is that these outlets weren't making money. So they find a hard-core audience that'll take the click-bait. Wokeness is a niche. It's a much smaller (and shrinking) niche than these outlets think. There's a GLUT of media, right now, and the old ways of making money no longer work.
