USA is pretty unique in that regard. That's why they go after free speech through corporate means. Being shut out of the economy is bad enough, and many think the government is pulling those strings (while its strings are being pulled by big corporations in a giant circle-jerk). The West is far more socialist/fascist than it will admit. At least in the USA, there are alternate platforms that can say anything they want. They're still targeted by corporate proxies, like when Amazon went after Parler's servers by shutting them down at the server side. Scary times we live in. Government/corporate censorship is nearly as complete for most of the masses as it was in Nazi Germany. There are still alternatives to legacy t.v. networks and Big Tech platforms, but they don't get nearly as much traffic, and people have to really LOOK for them, rather than just passively take in what's on offer by a very small oligopoly.
