  2. The private sector can handle floods just fine: Don't Build in the Flood Plain. If you do, that doesn't give you the right to reach in my pocket, by force, and make me pay for your bad decisions. I would be pleased to help people in trouble. I am not pleased to be forced to help people in trouble, no matter how stupid their mistakes are or were, or how much they cost. If you get wiped out by a Florida hurricane, I feel bad for you and I will probably chip in, but I'm sick and tired of shelling out, year after year, with everybody repeating the same damn mistakes and trying to shame me for their bad judgement.

  3. It's not flood insurance if it takes an annual infusion of federal money. It's a floodplain subsidy for people who build in bad places.
