Bob Dole was never conservative. He was a RINO. Big spender with enough regressive opinions to be deemed "conservative," but really just a tax-and-spend so-called liberal as a senator. He was sort of the Mitch McConnell/Lindsay Graham of his time.

Two ideologies: Those who think government should decide everything and those who think people should decide for themselves.

@AJohnSmith He's extremely intelligent. That doesn't mean he's right about everything. My first take on Shapiro when he first got my attention with his "Facts don't care about your feelings" line was that he had some decent arguments for the conservative side, but was more conservative than libertarian and a total neocon about Israel. It took me about a week to figure this out about him, back in 2015 or 2016. All I had to do was look him up and read/listen-to his statements.

Nah. Greenwald's stuck on the same big wheel ALL the "nanny-government" thinkers are on. His critique of the establishment is legitimate. His solutions are not to limit the size and scope of the federal government. His solutions are to elect "better socialists" to run the big, bloated enterprise and do what Glenn Greenwald wants it to do. As a libertarian, I say that the best - albeit imperfect - solution is to leave the people's problems to the people, and butt the hell out.

Glenn's not on our side. He's a big-government progressive, who sees all the bad things big government does, but believes the only problem is that the leadership isn't truly "progressive." He wants the government to stick its nose into everything and especially to run health care from top to bottom. And it will all work perfectly if we can just elect people just like Glenn Greenwald to run things. It's not the STRUCTURE of big government that bothers Glenn, but that the "wrong people are in charge." As a libertarian, I reject that argument. The problem is having these too-powerful government agencies that only need one asshole in the bunch to destroy America.
