  1. RussiaGate exposed the "Deep State." There's a huge community of permanent civil servants and permanent Congress members who want things to stay the way they are. They will stop at nothing and stoop to anything to maintain their exalted and powerful positions.

Too bad they're big-government progressives, for that lies at the root of all our problems: People looking to government and politics to fix everything, when government and politicians' primary function is to NOT MEDDLE. We're NEVER going to have perfect leaders. But even if we do, the NEXT leader(s) will be flawed. The trick is not giving ANYONE too much power, but progressives and even conservatives are happy if officials have too much power, as long as they do what the progressives/conservatives/liberals want. The federal government should govern LIGHTLY. Governs less = governs best. Anything not international trade or national defense needs to be left to the states. Full stop.
