This is the business model for MANY enterprises. In the private sector, we call it "corporate welfare" and "crony capitalism." It all flows from so-called "liberals" and "progressives," who want the government to solve all our problems, which is what makes it so profitable to lobby the government. A government that didn't intervene in everything for any and every reason would be immune to corruption, because there'd be no profit in trying to manipulate the rule set.

@samsung40_media87 Spoken like a socialist. It's bad law, not capitalism.

@unbreakable7633 Unwavering support of Israel has been a bipartisan sacred cow since I can remember first becoming acquainted with world affairs. I was too young to remember the '67 war, but I was old enough to read by the early '70s.

@theseustoo It still is. But it's so deeply ingrained in the American political class that you dare not call it such.

@Gee-xb7rt I agree. It's crony capitalism. And it's enabled by all the do-gooders who think they can vote for a government that will do all their do-gooding for them. The establishment mouthpieces unironically use the term "public-private partnerships" as if it's this great thing, when it is the literal definition of fascism. I think the relationship between Krupp Steel and the German government (since long before and a model for fascism/Nazism) was the inspiration for all that has happened since. The advantages to both parties to the partnership are obvious.

@theaterinafire Easy rule to fix a lot of it would be outlaw corporate donations, entirely. Let the executives and the workers make whatever private donations they wish, but NEVER allow a corporation to make political donations. The Citizens United v FEC case needs to be overturned. There is some nuance, here. I think people should be able to pool their small donations together, to speak with a louder voice, and about the only way to do that is with some sort of PAC. But as long as PACs are forbidden taking money from anyone but a private citizen, that would keep PACs possible and clean up a lot of the George Soros type of nonsense.

Yup. Dad used to call it "shittin' in your own mess gear."
