  1.  @pajeetsingh  I think the ideological threat was real and realized. I think the military threat was routinely exaggerated by a factor of 10, which a tour of their ports and their cities in the early 1970s. Back in those days, I was worried about Soviet tanks swarming over the border into western Europe. I think military threat is more real, today, than it was in the 1950s, but I don't see the Russians being seriously expansionist unless provoked.
