  1. One of the things I loved about living in Gunnison, CO was the 2nd-hand stores. With Crested Butte ski resort just up the road, there was a LOT of clothing and outdoor gear on sale that'd only been used once or twice by some rich vacationer. They'll buy the stuff, use it once for one trip, and then it makes its way to the thrift store. I got lots of wool and goretex that way

  2. Maybe what made it feel off was the shortness of the days. Lack of sunlight/daylight can mess with you. You don't realize how much that can drag you down, and all you know is things feel a little off. Or you feel a little off. I didn't even know I was depressed until I moved to Colorado and it was like a weight lifting off my shoulders. Idaho has a lot of gray days. Mountain valleys in Colorado you get direct sun almost every day. There can be a weather front going through, but local convection cells will punch holes in the clouds in the middle of the afternoon almost every single day. One of the local steak houses gave away free steaks on days that had no sun as a promo they almost never had to pay for.
