  1. Burning small, hot fires, rather than just stuffing your stove full of wood and building a smoky fire, will cut down the buildup. You've got so much built up in the pipe that you should sweep it out. But it won't build up, much, or at all, if you burn clean. A secondary air intake near the top will also help finish the burn, preventing most of the creosote from forming. You can burn a long time without stoking by just stuffing the box full, but you're going to choke your fire and put a ton of smoke up the chimney.

  2. A rocket-style stove (with insulated riser) will burn the wood all the way down to nothing, with CO2, CO, H2O the only things escaping, which won't plate out on your chimney, at all. If you want to leave your tent up for long periods in one spot, I'd look into a mass heat rocket setup, and run the pipe under the floor of the tent!
