In all seriousness, for decades, you needed the engineering degree, just to show you were trainable, even if the company hiring you was going to teach you all the engineering you needed to know for their specific industry. The degree weeded out the people who couldn't learn, but that's basically about all the degree was to the company.

@EricHixson-m9j Has to be a joke. If the job required a degree, the person would never have made it to the job interview.

@al-imranadore1182 Yes. Now, a degree means that you are compliant and conformable to whatever's being pushed. It used to also mean that you could at least memorize a lot of facts, long enough to spit them out on a test, but now a lot of teachers give open-notes, open-book tests.
