  1. If by "stalemate" you mean relatively static front lines and trading blows, then it is a stalemate. But it's not a stalemate when you consider the relative cost of the trading of blows. I think NATO and Ukraine have been making decisions based on realities that no longer apply. Russia has gotten its house in order, step by step, over the last 25 years, while the West has been sabotaging itself, with one blunder after the next, for over 30 years. Energy, manufacturing, culture, and the very relationship between state and citizenry (They work for us, not the other way around, and they've lost sight of that). They are at war with themselves. They're still capable of great mischief, but their underlying fundamentals are in the toilet. They've basically outlawed everything that once undergirded American (and its European vassals') ascendance, and clung to/reverted to all the old, corrupt, aristocratic forms that they used to brag about leaving behind.
