@jonathanodude6660 ... or 10x the price. Good point. You'd think there was enough money in just making a fair profit for a durable, repairable product. Seems to me a company with a more enlightened business model would have a big niche. I don't understand why LINUX hasn't taken over everything.

@rasmysamy2145 I think back to the '80s, tinkering on '60s and '70s vintage cars, and wonder "Why can't all durable goods be durable, like they used to be?" Do they HAVE to be greedy and pollute the planet 10 times more than they have to? Companies should take pride in being able to back their 20-year-old flip phones with all the parts and accessories. Seems like an intelligent consumer would want that and press for that.

@m4ki9h76 Repair shops should have full freedom to stock high-demand parts, according to the demand they see. Manufacturers should be 100% behind that and pride themselves on seeing their old models out in the world, still working. They don't. Their whole focus is on your buying their latest product, and if their 3-year-old product is obsolete, all the better for them. It's a terrible attitude, and I don't understand why the tree-huggers aren't up in arms.

@rasmysamy2145 Not confusing, but conflating. At least in my eyes-glazed-over case.

@rasmysamy2145 Heh. There should be a MILLION Rossman's out there fixing stuff, with full privileges. That's just a better way of doing things. Manufacturers and repair shops oughta be best buddies.
