  1. You're not buying a product any more. You're providing a lazy software company a lifetime annuity. My gut tells me that virtually all updates are a rip-off. I want to know why I was sold unstable software to begin with. I don't want to be forced to create an income STREAM for the products I buy. I want the price to be the price, and I expect software to reliably perform its original functions in perpetuity. We're paying way to much for all durable goods. It wastes our money and, because they're not truly durable, there's massive overproduction, resource extraction, and pollution.
