  1. One thing you didn't mention is that a gas-powered vehicle has a heavier engine, or so I would think. That takes a bit of a bite out of the 500 kg disadvantage. But the motor in your last-millennium vehicle probably doesn't weigh 1/3 of that 500 kg. So I talked myself out of it.
