  1. Elon always puts himself at the front of the subsidies line. The industries he engages in all have guaranteed government money committed to them. Being a billionaire, he can always position himself to take maximum advantage of government help. I remember he was pissed at Trump for backing out of the Paris Climate Accords, which essentially pushed all manufacturing to China, India and parts East, except for a handful of Western companies making government-subsidized solar panels and what-not.
