  1. They're playing a delicate game. Devaluation boosts exports. China routinely devalues its currency to maintain a stranglehold on various markets. Devalued ruble gives Russia more rubles while meeting a low price point for things like oil, gas and food exports to SE Asia and Africa. Real inflation for Russian people is far lower than for Euros or Americans. Things are tight for the Russians, but the West is choking on debt and dearth of resources and manufacturing.
