@marshalljulie3676 Local sheriffs existed before the USA existed. Exactly what form that took depended on where you were and how civilized the town was. But there were no "traffic laws," per se, and certainly no paved roads with citizens flying towards each other at a combined speed of over 100 miles per hour.

I want to delve deeper into the rights of a person who simply says "I don't answer questions." It's none of that cop's business if I have a firearm, knife, machete, axe, billy club, etc. My possession of those items relates only to what I choose to do with them, and not until I break the law with them. Simply possessing such should not be a matter for the police.
