  3.  @fensterrose1585  Walking a mile or so to school and back helped in those days. And yes. There were all kinds of ways to knock the piss out of the boys who needed it, with Phys Ed (we called it) early in the day. I knew a home-schooling rancher wife who didn't start her son in 1st grade until he was 7, because he just had too much energy and couldn't sit still. And she eased him into it, by letting him go outside after an hour or two straight. When he found that he didn't like how this was cutting into his free time after his studies, he got real serious about learning, and he quickly exceeded his grade level in every category.
